Rainforest conservation in Brazil

Project status:
Continuous, since April 2015
Standards:

Annual CO₂ reduction:
340,000 tonnes
Project area:
410,533 hectares

By purchasing verified offsets in this preservation project, you will be supporting the protection and conservation of 53,528 hectares of Amazon rainforest. At the same time, your offsets will help finance the ARC community forest stewardship program, which provides employment to over 200 local village residents. The program promotes tangible socioeconomic gains while reducing rural exodus.

The ARC project is audited and certified by Verra and has received additional certification under the CCB Standard (Climate, Community and Biodiversity) for its net biodiversity impacts and rigorous monitoring of animal corridors. The net estimated emission reductions in the project area, measured against the without-project scenario, are in excess of 340,000 tCO2 annually. The project realizes additional benefits by distributing non-wood-burning fuel efficient cooking stoves.

Fun fact: 1,245 animal species have been counted in the project area, over half of them birds, including 29 separate species of hummingbird.
